The Path of Illumination

This painting was inspired by a photo taken up north in the summer. It was taken as the sun was setting and during that beautiful time of the day known as the golden hour where the veil between worlds seems thinner and the light gleams with magic. I wanted to capture the essence of the interplay of light and colour in a vibrant almost exaggerated palette. The sun radiating through the trees symbolizes illumination and divine energy. Its position at the centre of the composition draws the viewer’s gaze as a guiding presence amidst life’s complexities. There is a path present, the winding dock leads towards a landscape that is filled with light and movement representing that all matter is in a constant state of motion and the destination is as of yet, unknown in the adventure. I was happy with the abstract quality of the ground and the layered transcendent quality of the spectral light. This painting feels like a personal masterpiece to me where everything that I wanted to express about that moment came together.
