The Invitation

This is a path in my neighbourhood. I have walked it frequently throughout the years. My daughter learned to ride her bike here. It runs along side the twelve mile creek and never disappoints with beauty to calm and rebalance. The photo I took for this piece was taken mid spring with the trees coming back to life in vibrant lemon yellows and cool lime greens The dappled sunlight coming through the canopy illuminated the leaves with sparkling tiny orbs of light. I once read that no one buys paintings of pathways to nowhere. I’m not convinced that is true. The pathway represents life’s journey, inviting the viewer to walk forward toward growth, discovery and adventure. This was really the main inspiration guiding my brush, along with capturing the essence of movement of the light and wind through the fresh leaves.
